Tanti anni fa non esistevano cellulari, playstation, internet e giochi preconfezionati. I giochi dei bambini erano semplici, molto spesso inventati da loro stessi con i pochi materiali trovati in casa o per strada. Tra i tanti, qualche giorno fa mi è tornato in mente il carrarmato. Me lo faceva mio padre usando un rocchetto di legno, di quelli dove si arrotolava il filo per cucire, e lo intagliava con un coltello cercando di imitare i cingolati.

Quindi utilizzava un pezzetto di cera tagliato da una candela, dei fiammiferi ed un elastico. Il gioco a costo zero era pronto per la mia gioia. La versione che ho riprodotto è un tantino più evoluta ma non ho voluto tradirne lo spirito tradizionale. Many years ago there were no cell phones, playstations, internet and prepackaged games. The children’s games were simple, very often invented by themselves with the few materials found in the house or on the street. Among the many, a few days ago the tank came back to my mind. My father made it for me using a wooden spool, the kind where he rolled up the sewing thread, and carved it with a knife trying to imitate the crawlers. Then he used a piece of wax cut from a candle, some matches and a rubber band. The no-cost game was ready to my delight. The version I reproduced is a little more advanced but I did not want to betray its traditional spirit.
