CASSETTIERA IN MULTISTRATO / PLYWOOD CHEST OF DRAWERS

Il multistrato è un tipo di materiale che utilizzo raramente nei miei progetti essendo essenzialmente relegato alla costruzione di alcuni jig. In questo caso avevo però la necessità di realizzare per una terza persona una cassettiera leggera ed economica ed il massello mal si addiceva a tale scopo. Il mobiletto in questione si compone di  venti piccoli cassetti che contengono perlopiù penne e matite, quindi materiale molto leggero. Le misure finali

della cassettiera sono 160 cm. di altezza (compreso le ruote) per 31 cm. di larghezza per 27,5 cm. di profondità. Le misure dei cassetti sono 25 cm. per 25 cm. per 6 cm. di altezza. I laterali, la base ed il cappello sono di spessore maggiore rispetto ai ripiani interni ed ai cassetti. Per ogni cassetto è stata ricavata un’apertura nel frontale e la cassettiera è stata poi provvista di ruote piroettanti. Nonostante l’altezza notevole rispetto alle dimensioni complessive il mobiletto è stabile grazie ai ripiani interni ed al pannello posteriore che gli conferisce rigidità. Il progetto non prevede alcun tipo di incastro ma solo l’utilizzo di viti. La realizzazione è relativamente semplice, non impiegando alcun tipo di tecnica costruttiva particolare. Il materiale utilizzato è multistrato di pioppo. Essendo un progetto commissionato la finitura è stata realizzata direttamente dal committente. Plywood is a type of material that I rarely use in my projects being essentially relegated to the construction of some jigs. In this case, however, I needed to create a light and inexpensive chest of drawers for a third person and the solid wood was not suitable for this purpose. The cabinet consists of twenty small drawers that mostly contain pens and pencils, therefore very light material. The final measurements of the chest of drawers are 160 cm. height (including wheels) for 31 cm. wide and 27.5 cm. of depth. The measures of the drawers are 25 cm. for 25 cm. for 6 cm. in height. The sides, the base and the top are thicker than the internal shelves and drawers. For each drawer, an opening was made in the front and the chest of drawers was equipped with swivel wheels. Despite the considerable height compared to the overall dimensions, the cabinet is stable thanks to the internal shelves and the rear panel which gives it rigidity. The project has any type of joint but only the use of screws. Making is relatively simple, not using any type of particular construction technique. The material used is poplar plywood. Being a commissioned project, the finish was made directly by the client. Below I insert some photos taken from the various stages of processing.
