È passato quasi un anno da quando ho iniziato a scrivere questo blog. Da Settembre 2017 ad oggi ho pubblicato quasi 40 post, cercando di spaziare  quanto più possibile nel variegato mondo della falegnameria amanuense. Il blog si è arricchito di tanti contenuti, ma spesso il tempo è tiranno e non mi è sempre stato possibile dedicare

l’attenzione che avrei voluto all’aggiornamento dei vari argomenti. Mi sono reso conto inoltre che non è così semplice, come in un primo tempo avevo pensato, portare avanti un sito, specialmente se tratta di argomenti piuttosto tecnici. Richiede, come detto, tempo, dedizione, un briciolo di esperienza e un pò di cultura. Bisogna in primo luogo trovare un argomento, possibilmente che sia di interesse anche per il pubblico che legge, e cercare di sviscerarlo sotto i suoi vari aspetti. Successivamente renderlo comprensibile, soprattutto mediante delle foto, cosa che ho sempre cercato di fare durante le varie fasi delle mie lavorazioni. Questo ha implicato molto spesso interrompere il lavoro per riprendere il momento importante. La fase di preparazione dell’articolo, poi, richiede parecchio tempo, se si considera la scelta delle foto da inserire, il loro caricamento sul sito e la traduzione in lingua inglese, un passaggio che reputo importante anche se oggettivamente molto impegnativo per me. Spesso la gestazione di un articolo richiede di dedicare alcune ore al giorno per svariati giorni, prima che questo possa essere finalmente pubblicato. L’articolo va scritto in una forma corretta, riletto e corretto, reso comprensibile, possibilmente cercando di non scrivere inesattezze. Per chi, come il sottoscritto, che non è nè un professionista falegname nè un web designer ma solo un amatore della lavorazione manuale del legno che nella vita fa tutt’altro per vivere, spesso far convivere il lavoro con la propria passione, è tutt’altro che facile. Fortunatamente gli sforzi profusi sono stati ripagati nel tempo. Il sito è cresciuto sia nei contenuti che per numero di visite e visitatori da un anno a questa parte. Gli articoli sono ben visibili sui vari motori di ricerca così come tante delle immagini che ho pubblicato, e questo per me è già motivo di grande soddisfazione. Il mio intento infatti non è cercare visibilità per amor proprio ma condividere quelle poche ma sicure conoscenze che ho acquisito in questi anni di passione per il legno.

Da qui a breve dovrebbero esserci delle novità per quanto riguarda la location. Se qualcuno lo ha notato il laboratorio dove passo parte del mio tempo libero è cambiato nel corso degli anni e nel prossimo futuro cambierà ancora, almeno è quello che spero. Finalmente dovrei avere un ambiente tutto per me. Sicuramente molto più piccolo dell’attuale, ma praticamente a casa, e quindi più comodo da poter gestire. In questi mesi sto lavorando per preparare il nuovo banco da falegname ed il pensile porta attrezzi più alcuni mobiletti di servizio che serviranno per le vernici ed altro. Ovviamente nel nuovo lab non ci sarà spazio per le attrezzature elettriche ed anche se ce ne fosse stato, seguendo una linea di condotta ormai consolidata, non lo avrebbero comunque trovato. Seguirà quindi il trasloco dei soli attrezzi manuali. Il nuovo piccolo laboratorio sarà, accogliente, caldo, intimo. Vorrei creare un posto attorno a me. Tutti gli attrezzi dovranno trovare una loro collocazione a portata di mano, nel vero senso della parola. Il nuovo banco ed il pensile serviranno a questo.

It’s been almost a year since I started this blog. From September 2017 to today I have published almost 40 posts, trying to write as much as possible about the varied world of woodworking by hand. The blog has been enriched with many contents, but often time is a tyrant and I have not always been able to dedicate the attention I wanted to update the various topics. I also realized that it is not so simple, as I initially thought, to carry on a site, especially if it deals with rather technical subjects. It requires, as said, time, dedication, a bit of experience and a bit of culture. First of all, you need to find an argument, possibly that is of interest also for the public that reads, and try to talk about it under its various aspects. Later make it understandable, especially through photos, which I have always tried to do during the various stages of my work. This thing has meant interrupting the work many time to resume the important moment. The phase of preparation of the article, then, takes a long time, considering the choice of the photos to be inserted, their loading on the site and the translation in English, a step that I consider important even if objectively that’s very challenging for me. Often the gestation of an article requires to spend a few hours a day for several days, before this can finally be published. The article should be written in a correct form, checked many times and corrected, made understandable, possibly trying not to write inaccuracies. For those, like myself, who is neither a professional woodworker nor a web designer but only a woodworker amateur that in life does other things to live, often making the work coexist with the passion, ir’s not simple at all. Fortunately, the efforts made have been repaid over time. The site has grown both in content and number of visits and visitors during this year. The articles are clearly visible on the various search engines as well as many of the images I have published, and this is already a source of great satisfaction for me. In fact, my intent is not to seek visibility for my own sake but to share those few but sure knowledge I have acquired in these years of passion for wood. From here soon there should be some news about the location. If someone has noticed the workshop where I spend part of my free time has changed over the years and in the near future it will change again, at least that’s what I hope. Finally I should have an environment all for myself. Certainly much smaller than the current, but practically at home, and therefore more comfortable. In these months I am working to prepare the new workbench and the wall tool cabinet, plus some service cabinets that will be used for varnishes and more. Obviously in the new lab there will be no space for electrical equipment and even if there had been, following a well-established line of conduct, they would not have found it anyway. So the moving of only hand tools will follow. The new small laboratory will be welcoming, warm and intimate. I would like to create a place all around me. All the tools will have to find their place at hand, in the true sense of the word. The new bench and the wall cabinet will serve this.
